General Summary of the Position: 

The Special Markets Account Manager is responsible for developing and implementing high level business and sales strategy to successfully manage PDT Special Markets across North America. Exposing, promoting and securing high level sales opportunities within these avenues. 
 
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Develops and implements programs for PDT to successfully infiltrate special markets avenues 
  •  Provides support for Special Markets Customers including: DSOs, Group Practices, Federal/Government Accounts, Community Health Centers, Education, and Schools
  • Works closely with PDT sales team to provide optimal customer exposure and training on local levels 
  • Works closely with the Director of Sales and Marketing to strategize best opportunities to integrate US sales team with Special Markets Opportunities 
  •  Works closely with the Marketing Manager to strategize best opportunities for exposure, ROI and follow up within the sales team through leads nurturing 
  • Creates training materials to be used across Special Markets sales platforms 
  • Leverages relationships for continuous growth, exposure and opportunity 
  •  Develops and delivers/presents business propositions for corporate accounts of prominent special markets customers 
  •  Successfully negotiates contracts and pricing 
  • Is a key contact for Distributor partners corporate special markets contacts 
  • Provides support for Special Markets Distributor inside and outside sales teams 
  • Develops training programs for Distributors, Special Markets, and sales teams 
  • Cultivates and nurtures relationships within the dental industry including both inside and outside contacts 
  •  Actively manages and optimizes the North American Special Markets Budget 
  •  Monitors monthly chargebacks, analyzes, and reports to National Sales Team 
  •  Secures PDT comprehensive product line on formularies, tenders and bid opportunities 
  • Educates customers on new PDT products to be included on formularies 
  • Must ensure that all required travel documents are valid and up to date; including, but not limited to, a driver’s license and passport. 
  •  Maintain an overall positive, approachable, warm, and inviting attitude and environment for all employees and external stakeholders. 
  •  Contributes to the daily workflow with regular and punctual attendance. 
 Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 
 
Must be able to read and interpret documents such as marketing materials, product catalogs, and clinical/marketing reports.  Must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence (email, fax, letters, etc.).  Ability to speak and communicate professionally with customers and internal staff.  Must be able to understand and perform basic arithmetic as well as understand and carry out written and oral instructions.  Must be able to contribute to PDT’s culture of openness, integrity, and transparency with a positive attitude and a willingness to collaborate with team members, external vendors, and customers. 
Must be a true leader and team player who is comfortable investing time to develop and build relationships while also mentoring and guiding the US sales team to Special Markets sales growth. Must be able to effectively communicate and set expectations, holding self-accountability. Must be successful with budget management and have ability to analyze sales trends to seize sales opportunities. The ideal candidate is a visionary who takes initiative and confidently makes decisions to bring programs to life.

  •  Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may need to sit or stand as needed.  May require walking primarily on a level surface.  Reaching above shoulders, below the waist, and lifting 1- 50 pounds (files, materials, and tradeshow suitcases). 
  • Work Environment: Work from home 
  • Regular travel – often by plane 
  • Travel up to 50% of the time
 
Work Experience Requirements: 
 
  •  3-5 years’ experience building Special Markets Sales within the Dental Industry 
  • 2 + years’ experience working in a dental clinical setting 
  • Experienced in developing and implementing Special Markets programs 
  •  Experienced in writing and negotiating contracts 
  •  Experienced in dental sales 
  • Must be efficient with the Microsoft Office Suite and Customer Relationship Manager (CRM) software. 
  •  Must be comfortable and familiar with computers and technology 
  • Experience managing a large budget 
 
Education Requirements: 
 
  • Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) credential preferred but not required.
